LOVES - Chapter 2
===================================

LONG time ago, John, Edmund's grandfather came to Nanyang from China to earn a living. It started out harsh and only with odd jobs. The pay was hard to make ends meet, needless to say about saving a sum for rainy days. After a few years, John managed to save up a small little amount of money and he decided to set up a stall of his own.

Before long, the stall had started its business and things are going very smoothly for John. John worked day and night to serve all his loyal customers he earned respect from over the years. One of which, he fell in love with, and over the years love blossoms and John married Elizabeth.

Happy times are always short, it was nineteen fourty two, pearl harbour had been bombed by the Japanese, the start of World War II. The Japanese army marched down and finally making their last stop in Nanyang and calling it Syonantou. Life was greatly ruin at that time, as the streets were dangerous, males who believed were with the British was executed or tortured to death, females were raped and humiliated, bombshells which had not exploded might be activated when kids accidentally hit it while playing on the streets.

Life was a mess, but John and Elizabeth got through all that until the day the Japanese leave, as the war was ended by blowing two of the japanese cities into smithereens. The British returned and life was much better, and things started to pick up. During this time Elizabeth conceived and had childrens.

John had developed an illness and making him very hard to move around and needless to say about working. Elizabeth then worked harder for the family and suppporting the medical bills of her husband, John. Most of the time, buying food from Ang Mo Kio and walking all the way back to their house at Toa Payoh, just to save whatever she can save for the family.

John's illness was hard to cure, and the success rate was low. Just then, there was this doctor, who claimed that he could cure John with a new medicine he formulated. The cost is not very much as the drug was still under test. John took the medicine consistently and everytime after taking the medicine, he would vomit. John's condition did not turn for the better but instead for the worse. The drug was a failure, and nearly cost John to lose his life.

Elizabeth would tear everytime she see John in pain. John would reassure her that its not that painful and ask her not to worry, that was supossedly to ease the worry in Elizabeth's heart but it just made Elizabeth break down in tears. Time passed, and little Edmund came into the lives of John and Elizabeth and that made them grandparents.

Little Edmund grew up strong and sturdy and he became the most beloved grandchild of John and Elizabeth.

Edmund: I was really very naughty in the past and my grandpa would always encourage me to take up more activities and getting myself into a more disciplined and respected status.

Markcus: Oh is it? Thats why you joined and participated in so many extra activities after school huh?

Edmund: Yeah haha!
